1. Can you tell us more about yourself, Anessa? Your Journey and how you got into the blockchain/fintech space.
A few years ago, when asked by the Chair of the Florida Bar Association Technology Law Committee to prepare a lecture on blockchain and smart contracts for the Florida Bar Association, I eagerly accepted. That first lecture went quite well, and I soon received several additional speaking requests that beget blockchain clients requiring specialized legal and business counsel. Because this industry is moving faster than any new technology we’ve ever seen, I sought some serious education at the University of Oxford on blockchain strategies for business and fintech applications, and I’m very glad I did. Spending time with the faculty and students at Oxford was totally transformational, teaching me critical considerations about the implications of this technology as it is integrated throughout government, commerce and society. I’m a much better lawyer and business counsellor because of this experience.
